HOLIDAY CONCERT

On Thursday night 8 of us went to the Elephant Bar for happy hour, before we went to the holiday concert with Marine Corps combat center band from Twentynine Palms.
Ken and Faye are friends we made last year in Florida. Faye taught me to blog and teaches line dance. They both are good pickle ball players. Faye's other special talent is a great social planner, getting everyone together for meals and fellowship.

My meal was these delicious crab and shrimp cakes. Larry had a very good cheeseburger and fries. We had our BOGO coupon so it made a great deal.

Admission for this holiday concert was free but we had to get tickets for it in November. You were asked to bring canned goods or a toy for the Toys for Tots program. It was held in the Palm Springs convention center. I heard there were 3,000 people attending the concert. We got there soon after the doors opened and got good seats. The first half of the concert different small bands played: a jazz band, a dance band and this marching unit. It wasn't the concert I was expecting and the auditorium was quite warm. Several people left at intermission.
The second half of the concert the whole band performed and it was great. They played the theme from the Polar Express, some tunes from the Nutcracker, some Hanukkah songs. Then a Marine sang White Christmas and Winter Wonderland. At the end of the concert they played carols for all the audience to sing. It was a very nice Christmas concert.
