BATTLE FOR HOPE

We went to a fund raiser for Find, Feed and Restore on Saturday night. We have supported this organization for a few years. Instead of a family living in their car or in the woods, they provided a  trailers to live in. With counseling and support many of the families are able to get their own apartment or home. Feed, Find and Restore has now bought some property in Groveland, Restore Lake. It will offer Bridge Housing to help individuals get back on their feet and a Women's Domestic Violence Shelter.
Chief Broadway and Brian Broadway are brothers. So the Battle for Hope was a Family Feud Game between the cops and the clergy.

 We had a lovely dinner.
The game began. The belt was the trophy they were playing to win.

The cops.
The clergy

And the winners were the cops.  Of course the  real winners were all the people that will be helped with the money that was raised to build Restore Lake.

HEART OF RV COUNTRY

We left PA and headed to Elkhart, IN for the annual NOMADS rally. Last year it had been canceled due to Covid It was good seeing everyone once again.

We stayed at the  Elkhart Campground.
There were lots of auction items to bid on.
We attended a laying Tile workshop. Larry wants to put tile on the lanai floor, I taught a line dance workshop.
There was good entertainment. David Dean was a funny comedian.
Lots of singing. The choir sounded great even wearing masks.
We all went to the Basher Children's Home for dinner and to learn about it. NOMADS do have projects here.
We left on Friday. Saturday we drove through Atlanta.
We were home Sunday afternoon.  We were gone just about a month. Good trip but glad to be back.

BACK TO THE SHORE

The week before Labor Day we had our annual trip to the shore, Lynda, Lynn and me.  Saturday was rainy, and there was very little shore traffic. We even stopped for lunch at a restaurant, for we can't get into the apartment until 3.  It was only drizzling to unload the car. and it cleared up soon after that, This is looking down the block to the ocean.
Lynn didn't come down till late Sunday. Lynda and I went to the beach in the afternoon. It was a little windy, but I did go in the water.
Lynda knew she wasn't going swimming so she wore her shorts and top.
Wednesday Hurricane Ida kept us off the beach waiting for the rain. It finally came in the evening and we didn't have any flooding. Thursday was quite windy so we went shopping at Cape May. Friday Lynn and I were ready for a beach day.

The back of my shirt says beach day.  I missed not having a week at the beach last year. Glad we got to go this year even if we didn't spend every day on the beach.

FAMILY TIME

We went back to PA the end of August. We went out to  dinner with Larry's brothers and sister. There was Lyndon, Sabra, Barb, Tom, Larry, Dottie, Loretta and Trey. We haven't been together for two years so it was nice seeing everyone and all are well. (Sabra had a major heart attack two months ago and was suffering from kidney stones)

A visit to see the grandchildren is a must. Averie is a real farm girl. She loves holding the chickens and she catches them pretty good. Ashtyn is in 1st grade. It was the first week of school. We were waiting for the bus to drop her off, Opps she missed the bus so she had to be picked up at school.

All of the children have birthdays soon, so we took them their present and a cake. Averie is 5 on September 13th,  Ashtyn 7 on October 1st and Hunter will be 4 on Nov. 3rd.

We all had so much fun playing with the children's new toys I forgot to take pictures.

We also got together with Bob, his girl friend Felecia, and her son Lucas, but again no pictures, sorry.

DISNEY IN AUGUST

We went to Magic Kingdom to see the castle all decorated for the 50th anniversary.

 Very pretty.

The following week we went to Epcot in the evening to walk around and see the fireworks.  We were surprised to see a show at the American Theater.
The Hooligans are a group from Oviedo,FL that do British rock from the 60's - 90's.
Larry liked it enough that we went to two shows.
The evening ended with a great fireworks display.
