SHORT WEEK

Here are some interesting facts about Bastrop.
Monday was a very rainy, cold day and the only inside work we had to do was to finish the bathroom at the house we have been working on this fall. So only four of us went to work.
Bub, Larry and Gary set up a tent to put the saw under.
Four in the bathroom was a little crowded.
 Larry installed the toilet.
Gary and Bub installed the shower stall.
The trim was finished even around the window.
We were done by lunch and called it an early day.
Tuesday was a little cold but not rainy. Steve and Vicki helped finish the shed. Steve crawled under to attach the steps.
 Larry put in the venting.
We thought it looked like a  bird house.
The shed is finished by noon.
Avis and Gary finished the steps at the home they were working at last week. So that project is done.
Dan, Marilyn and Richard started a new house, building two decks and a ramp.
 The back deck.
Wednesday we all went over to this property to work. Half the crew worked on the front deck and ramp whle the rest finished up the back deck.
Larry and I took that set of steps and attached them to the back of the house.
Avis cut the stringers for the back steps.
 Installing the stringers.
 Steps!
 The front decking.
Cutting the boards kept Midge busy.
I helped Bub screw on the boards to the top deck.
Larry, Gary and Dan worked on the ramp.
This is what we got finished by the end of the day, we were hoping to be finished but will have to complete it next week.
Thursday we went to the Bastrop Methodist church for Thanksgiving dinner.
The church cooked 5 turkeys and we all brought a covered dish. There was lots of great food and we had avery nice Thanksgiving.

With bad weather and Thanksgiving it has been a very short week, but we have got a lot of our homes finished. From left to right are Larry and Dottie, Richard and Marilyn, Dan, Gary and Avis, Bud and Midge, Steve and Vicki.

We had planned to go to DQ for an evening snack, but when we stopped by on Tuesday we saw it the sign that said they would be closed on Thanksgiving. Sorry Dan.

GETTING OLDER

Larry had a birthday party for me with all the NOMADS here in Bastrop.
Roses from Larry and a poinsettia and puzzles from Avis. My favorite things.
My beautiful new topaz ring. Never had a birthstone ring before. I saw this at the jewelers when we were home and told Larry I liked it. He surprised me with it.
We went to see Delivery Man, a good movie. This building has bowling, pool, miniature golf and movies. Playing black light golf was fun.
My birthday ended with a delicious steak dinner here in downtown Bastrop. What a great birthday.

ON THE ROAD AGAIN

We left PA October 31 to head for Bastrop,TX. Our first stop was in Red Bay, AL to get our antenna repaired.

Since Phil Campbell is close to Red Bay we were able to go over and visit with Janice. This is the house we worked on building in the Spring. It was sure nice to see it finished and Janice all moved in.
 She loves her kitchen.
The bathroom was a lot bigger then I remembered it.
She now sleep in her bed.

After 5 days at Red Bay we had the antenna repaired and were on the road again.
When we got to Texas and off the interstate the speed limit changed. Everything is bigger in Texas!
We heard gas was cheaper in Texas. We had paid $3.63 for diesel at the Flying J in Arkansas.
As we came into Bastrop this Exxon station was having a grand opening and was packed with cars, but we couldn't resist pulling in and filling up since the diesel price was $2.99!!!

A few hours later it was back to $3.49. What a blessing to have gotten it for $2.99, what a nice welcome to town.
We turned onto Alum Creek Rd and drove a few miles down this road.
We turned on park road 1C.
Right after we turned onto it we crossed the Alum Creek. During the rains, the week before that flooded Austin, this creek was at the 4 foot level.
Now we came to the road into camp.
The camp where we are parked.
We have 50 amp, water and sewer. All set up and ready to go. Godiva seems to love it here. (follow the line to her pink collar)
Sunday we went to church in Bastrop. The movie Bernie was filmed here. It is a nice little town.
