GIRLS WEEK AT THE SHORE

 The house we have rented for 15 years was no longer being  rented this year so we had to find a new place to stay. My sister's neighbor's son had this house for rent on Nashville Ave in Wildwood Crest, so we rented it for the first week of August. 

 It had a nice back porch with two tables, but we never got to eat out on it.

 It also had a nice front porch. Lynn went out on it to drink her coffee each morning.

 Sunday, Monday, Thursday and Friday we got to the beach.

 The water was great, clean and warm. Kathy and I were the water bugs.

 Thanks to Lynda planning ahead and realizing we would be walking to the beach this year and not driving, she bought a cart. It held four chairs, two umbrellas and all our bags. Pulling it through the sand took a little work, but other then that it made going to the beach very easy.

 I claimed the rocker but Kathy sat in it most of the time.

 Lynda knitted and Lynn read. No rush to go to the beach since it was cloudy and forecast was rain.

 Tuesday we went to Stone Harbor and shopped since it was rainy. On Wednesday we went to Ocean City and walked the boardwalk in pouring rain. Kathy said it was the first time she has ever walked the boardwalk in the rain. But they have a lot of nice shops to go into.

We ate a very good lunch at the Ocean Cafe.

 Lynda got us all our dessert - carmel popcorn. It took us the rest of the week to eat it all.

Each evening after dinner we sat around the kitchen table and played games.  The reason to go the the shore was met - enjoying the beach, catching up on friendships, and enjoying time together. We plan to go back next year.

MOVING ON

 Mark was thrilled with this car until it started to overheat after a month of ownership. He took it to the repair shop several times, then finally they said it needed a head gasket. Too costly a repair. So they agreed to take the car to auction and give back the money they were able to get for it. After having a car for two months Mark and Shannon realized how important having a car was to them, so they figured out how much a car payment they could afford. So we all went out car hunting again, but this time  not buying a car as is. We wanted a  car with a warranty.

 We went to several car dealerships and at Lancaster Toyota they showed us this 2006 Sebring.

 It is in good shape except for the scrape on the front bumper. It only has 50,000 miles and came with a 13 month warranty. It was in their price range, so the purchase was made. We hope this car will give them much better  performance and give them some good transportation for the next few years.

TOO DARN HOT

July sure has been a hot month, 90's with high humidity.Thanks to family and friends with pools, we enjoyed several cool visits.
We even played some golf, Larry really is enjoying it. He even got his sister, Barb, taking lessons and getting some clubs.
 Last Saturday Mystique and Jason came over and we all went to Mt. Gretna playhouse and saw Kiss Me Kate. The song Too Darn Hot is from the musical and it was to darn hot and humid, even at night.

Last Sunday was a party at Larry's  sister Georgine's. Her grandson, Austin,(in the blue top) was leaving on Monday to go to Kentucky for heavy equipment and crane operation school.

The guys had fun bobbing for apples and playing games. More then one way to stay cool.

WHILE AT HERSHEY TT

The weather has been hot with storms almost every day. On June 28th a golf tournament Larry was to play in got cancelled so we went over to Tree  top and played  9 holes of golf. All those carts, but we walked it. Larry is really getting pretty good and I had a few good hits.

 Friday night we went to the Mt. Gretna playhouse and saw Watson- the last great tale of the Legendary Sherlock Holmes.  An unusual play but we enjoyed it. Lot of creative acting.

 The first of July, time to go and pick some cherries.

 We picked 6 pounds in a few minutes, the trees were loaded and picking was easy. Now pitting those cherries took a lot longer!  I made three pies out of them, and yes the cherries were sour, but quite tasty in the pie.

 We went to Sharon Hill, where my son and sister live. for a 4th of July picnic. My son's friend, Pam, and her children came over.  We had fun playing some games outside.

 We ended the evening watching fireworks from the front steps. Collingdale puts there fireworks off right at the end of the street. It was a nice day.

LOTS TO DO

 There was a silent auction at the Waystock festival and we bid on Barnstormer tickets, golf at Four Seasons and Mt Gretna play tickets.  We won them all so we have lots of summer activities to keep us entertained. Wednesday night we went  to the Barnstormer game.

 The weather was perfect for the game and we had great seats right by the dugout and by home plate.

 We had to be alert for any foul balls, but none flew our direction.

 Thursday Larry played golf at Four Seasons with Ben and Don.

 We took Larry's mom to Dutch Apple for a matinee performance of CATS. It is quite a different show, all song and dance. The costumes were amazing and they sure acted like cats. I never saw it on Broadway so I'm glad I got to see it here.

 All last week it was Made In America tour days in York, PA. We had nothing planed on Wednesday or Friday so we went and took some tours.  The first one we went to was George's Furniture. We had a nice tour of this family owned business where they make hand crafted hard wood furniture.

 Friday we took a tour of  Wolfgang candy. Schools, scouts, and churches often sell this candy for fund raisers.

 This is where we started our tour. It is the home where they started  making the candy in 1921. We had to take off all our jewelry, and wear hair nets.  No cameras were allowed inside but it was a very good tour of their three buildings. One where they were making chocolate covered pretzels, a building where they packaged the candy, and the building where the store supplies and have a store. And yes, they gave us some chocolate at the end of the tour - and we bought a lot more:)

Weldon Solutions was our last place to visit. They make robotic automation systems. It was a  little technical for me but interesting. He kept stressing that science and math were the key for the future in jobs.

WHAT WAS HE THINKING?

 This is not our Phaeton, thank heavens! The guy in the white shirt owns this RV and he pulled into the park the other evening. He tried to turn left down this sloped road.

 He was towing this trailer.  We noticed the tow truck when we were out walking. They really had a job to get this trailer off and then to move the RV.

 He couldn't go forward for there is a well there at the yellow post, so they had to pull him back and then he could go to the right.

 Not a pretty sight. It took a couple hours to get this RV out of this mess, it sure made an evening of excitement for the park.

WAYSTOCK

 Saturday was a beautiful day to be outside so we saw this event advertised and decided to go. It was at the Wayside Presbyterian church in Landisville. There was music all afternoon.

 There was a nice big tent to sit under. I wanted the warmth of the sun and Larry liked the shade so we found the perfect spot.

 We enjoyed all the music, but especially liked the songs sung by Chiques United Methodist church band.

 There was free food all day long - hot dogs, walking taco, soft pretzels, chips, cookies, snow cones, popcorn and drink.

 Landisville Greenhouse had flowers for sale.  Hanging basket for $12.00 It was hard picking the basket I wanted to buy.

 Traveling with plants is a little bit of a challenge. These are my tomato plants I got at the egg and chicken festival in Alabama. I just planted them in their own pots, maybe tomatoes by September??!!
