SLEEP IN HEAVENLY PEACE 2022

Saturday, November 5th, 130 volunteers gathered in our church's parking lot to build beds for Sleep in Heavenly Peace. It cost $250 to give a child a bed, complete with sheets and spread.  People donated  over  $15,000 this year so 67 beds were able to be made.
Two trucks arrived at 7 and everything was unloaded and set up. It is very organized. You don't have to bring anything, they have it all, even gloves.
At 9 we gathered for pray and instructions.

Bill, the gentleman on the left is the coordinator for this West Orlando chapter, and Aaron, the  gentleman on the right is the one from our Celebrate Recovery that brought this service project to our attention. Pastor Dawn saying a prayer.

Sanding the boards is a big part of the job. At least 50 sanders were going all morning.  I think it took a day for my hand to stop vibrating.

My neighbor, Pat came and sanded.

Larry screwing the boards together to make the head and foot boards of the bed.

There are many jobs and steps on this project.  Rebecca and her son Trooper helping with getting the boards cut to the right length.
Boards being cut.
Holes were drilled into the boards, so they could easily be put together.

The headboards were stained and coated.
The finishing touch was the branding.
sHp for Sleep in Heavenly Peace.
All the pieces for the bed are packaged together and then people sign up to go deliver the bed and put it together for the family. We had at least 4 people from our church ask for beds for their children. No child should have to sleep on the floor. If you hear of this organization building beds in your area go and give them some help.
