MORE RV EXCITEMENT

On our way to Illinois we stopped Wednesday night just east of Columbus Ohio at a Walmart. When we got up in the morning we had no power, the generator wouldn't start.  We couldn't get the step (just got it put on a week ago) or our bedroom slide to go in. Luckily this Walmart has an auto department so Larry carefully drove around to it with the slide and step out.

We needed new batteries and they had the ones we needed. Larry was able to install them for they weren't going to be able to do it for a few hours.
The step went in but not the bedroom slide. We called Nexus, the company that make our unit, and they told us to take the trim off the top and use the special tool that comes in the blue bag to manually turn the motor to bring the slide in. We bought this used so we didn't have a blue bag or special tool. We called Coach Net and they were going to see who they could send to help us.
Tired of waiting Larry tackled getting the trim off which took a crow bar and lots of pulling. We were lucky we had the tools with us.
The motor that moves the cable had a little hole in the end that needed a 3/4 square socket bit. Larry went in to the store and bought the right size but it was not square and did not work.

This was the tool we were to use. Coach Net sent two guys that had no idea of what they were doing and no equipment, we didn't quit trust them and sent them on there way. We call a local RV dealership and ask if they had a square bit to bring in a slide. The did and agree to have someone bring it to us for $25. In a little while he came and handed us the short socket bit and left. Thank heavens Larry had a drill it fit and was able to bring in the slide. We finally got on the road at 3 o'clock. Larry had to be at Du Quoin for the board meeting on Friday.  Thursday night we stopped at another Walmart but didn't put the slide out. At the fairground we had electricity and the slide has worked fine ever since. The trim piece traveled in the car and Larry has to reattach it.
