FOOD BANK

In March I found out about this thrift store and food bank that was just down the road from our home. A few of us from the Mission selection team of Clermont United Methodist Women visited to find out about them and how we might be able to help. Larry and I personally decided to give them some financial support.  When Larry was talking with the minister he found out that they needed to build a wall to seperate the two stores and service more of the food needs.
Larry and Danny, a friend from church, cut out this wall and installed a door.

The door opens to a hallway that leads to the outside door. So pallets of food can be unloaded and taken  directly through this door into the room.

I should have taken a picture before they started working. This section was full of furniture, books and many other items. It all was moved over and this is where the wall will go. They use the money raised from the thrift store to purchase food. Furniture is the big ticket item and helps them the most. I never thought of that.

On Saturday Jim, our neighbor, used his truck to get the wood from Lowe's. Jim and Lopez  measured and cut it.
Larry worked on building the framework.
Lopez has been hired to help. He is unemployed from the shut down of the corona virus, and thankful to lend a hand. He is a hard worker.

With some challenges the framework is coming along.
This is the opening for a counter so people can come to the thrift store and go to this window and get their food. This side is were the food will be stored and only workers giving the food out will be working in here.
